What to do when it's time to replace a HVAC unit.

No body likes to hear the words, "You're going to have to replace your Air Conditioning unit.
But, just a little research can help you defer some of the costs of a new unit.  Here are some things to check on when it's time:

1) Check for rebates from manufacturer's on units.
Note: Keep in mind that these offers usually apply to their most expensive models, so you may be able to get a better deal by purchasing a mid-level unit that isn't eligible for a manufacturer's rebate.

3) If you have time, get more than one quote to ensure you are getting the best buy.
Note: Remember to research your contractor through Google, the Better Business Bureau, Yelp or online.  The cheapest quote sometimes means you get cheap work. Choose wisely.

4) Get off season discounts.  Installing a new unit in the Fall or Spring may allow your HVAC contractor to offer you a discount because they don't have a peak workload.

5) Check your Energy Star rating on a new unit.  Although, it may appear to be more costly, these units pay dividends in energy savings for many years.

6) Research HVAC financing options.  No interest offers can mean that you don't have to dive into savings if you pay it back within the promotional period.
You can have some piece of mind when you have to make a big purchase and replace your Air Conditioner if you follow a few of the steps above.
